| Birthday The day on which somebody is born. The day in each year that is the anniversary of the day somebody was born. Birthdays are traditionally marked by celebrations including a birthday party or, in some particular cases, a rite of transition. The celebration of birthdays is not universal. It is thought the celebration of birthdays began with pagans.
